Community Based Programs

Acute Partial Hospitalization Program

The Children’s Home of Reading’s Acute Partial Hospitalization Program (APHP) provides intensive psychiatric treatment similar to that available on an inpatient unit, in a less restrictive community based setting in Reading.

Foster Care

Foster Care provides temporary out-of-home care for children ages birth-21, who are unable to remain at home with their birth parents. Children are provided with a structured, supportive, and safe environment in a caring foster home.

Specialized Foster Care V

An alternative to institutional, residential, and group home care for youth ages 12-21 who exhibit sexually acting out/reactive/abusing behaviors and are considered appropriate to stay within a community setting.

Adoption Services

As a SWAN affiliate, our staff is trained to provide services to the child. Families also receive training and services from qualified staff in order to be an adoptive parent.

Post Permanency Services

These services are available to any family who has adopted and lives in Pennsylvania, whether or not they adopted their child from foster care, and to those families who are providing permanency to children from the foster care system through legal permanent custodianship or former kinship care. 

Lehigh Valley In-Home

These services utilize a freestanding community intervention model, a step-down from more intensive community programming, or as an aftercare component assisting with the transition of the youth returning to the community from residential placements.
