Richie’s Wish - Fostering connections through play

Richie’s Wish is a foundation built to honor Richie, who passed away in 2018 at age 23. The foundation aspires to create spaces, playrooms, and visitation rooms for children in foster care - a cause that was very close to Richie’s heart. His short life touched many lives. The foundation is in honor of Richie’s wish of creating space for kids in foster care like him to feel at home and play with age-appropriate toys.

Richie’s Wish contacted The Children’s Home of Reading in August 2020 and offered to makeover the visitation room for teens in the foster care program. When the whole world was forced into a state of oblivion due to the unforeseen circumstances led by the COVID-19 pandemic, Richie’s Wish and a group of wonderful donors and organizations contributed to their Playroom Makeover Program to dedicate their time to redecorate the rooms even during the pandemic. They followed and maintained safety protocols. You can see the amazing transformation of the visitation room for teens here.

In March 2021, they helped us rework our next playroom for infants with the contribution of a generous family. See the amazing work here.

Their most recent project was a makeover of our kid’s visit room. Thanks to the generous contribution of donors and school students and their staff, the kids can now enjoy a space filled with new toys. See the fantastic transformation here.

Thank you so much, Richie's Wish for the continued support and mission to support children and youth in the foster care systems.
